Michelle Kindness Design began in the 1980s with a vision—designing & supplying handcrafted baby wear collections & linen to the iconic Georges Melbourne. What started as a passion for thoughtful, high-quality pieces soon evolved into something more.

Travelling through Europe, the UK & America in the early 1990s deepened my love for interiors & craftsmanship, inspiring me to open Twiggywinkle Baby Boutique in 1992. Specialising in handcrafted products & interior design for children, the boutique quickly became known for creating warm, welcoming spaces filled with beauty & purpose.

As my clients’ families grew, so did their needs. A nursery became a child’s bedroom, then a teenage retreat, followed by a reimagined kitchen or living space—until, one project at a time, I found myself designing entire homes. The trust & relationships built over those first two decades led to the natural next step: launching Michelle Kindness Design - Home of Twiggywinkle in 2012.

At the heart of my approach is storytelling—your story. Every home holds memories, & my role is to weave those into a space that feels deeply personal, meaningful, & ready for the next chapter. The treasured heirlooms, the pieces collected over time, the simple joys of everyday living—all of these guide my process.

Now, with a wonderful team at our Beatty Avenue studio, alongside a community of talented artisans & tradespeople, we’re excited for what lies ahead in 2025 & beyond. - Michelle xx
